'Law & Order: SVU' Season 17 Spoilers: Benson & Co. Tackle Date Rape Case; Ep. 13 Details Revealed

This week, NBC's hit police procedural drama TV series "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit" Season 17 will finally feature the much-anticipated episode helmed by series star Mariska Hargitay, which is called "A Misunderstanding."

Olivia Benson, SVU's commanding officer who is played by Hargitay, will be discussing with her team how they would handle - what the synopsis from The Futon Critic hinted as - a "murky he-said, she-said date rape case."

The teaser clip for the episode posted over at YouTube revealed a pair of youngsters getting too close to each other. The next scenes found them making out in a secret area. Cut to what appears to be a police precinct or a small courtroom where the girl tells the authorities that she "didn't want to have sex." The boy, on his part, claimed that "she was into it."

Benson speculated that this could be another case of a misunderstanding between the two teenagers. The highlight reel abruptly cut off when the girl was asked if she had said "yes" to the boy's invitation.

Meanwhile, details for the up-and-coming episode of the show surfaced this week where it would likely tackle the issue of man's concern with his fellowmen's plight.

The spoiler report from Carter Matt said that the SVU will be called to look into another rape case but this time, the circumstance from which it took place is quite disheartening. As revealed in the details, a woman was being followed towards her home where she was then raped just outside of her building. It turns out that there were several people who witnessed the crime but they didn't call for help.

Perhaps, this would once again pose as a great challenge for SVU to pin down the attacker and to dig for more details about the crime as nobody's willing to step out and talk about what they saw.

For the meantime, "Law and Order: SVU" Season 17 Episode 12 airs this Wednesday, Jan. 20. While Episode 13, titled "Forty-One Witnesses" is slated to premiere Feb. 3, all on NBC.
