'Legends of Tomorrow' News, Update: Show Gives White Canary A Love Interest From The Past

Fans have never been more excited as the premiere date of The CW's upcoming superhero drama TV series "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" gets even closer.

Last week, the network released an action-packed teaser trailer featuring some of the time-traveling superheroes donning the fashion of the 1970s. But it won't all be about glam and fashion. The promo video, which was shared over at YouTube, features the gang comprised by Professor Martin Stein/Firestorm (Victor Garber), Mick Rory/Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell), Leonard Snart/Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Jefferson Jackson/The other half of Firestorm (Franz Drameh) and Sara Lance/White Canary (Caity Lotz) getting into action.

This week, another trailer was also released by the network which gave more detail on how and why the group was formed.

Speaking of the other Canary, a new casting report from Entertainment Weekly gave hints of a romance that fans will find quite a bit mind-bending.

According to EW, the "Strange Empire" and "Fringe" actress Ali Liebert has been cast as Lindsay Carlisle. She will be Sara Lance's potential love interest in this old era.

The character was further described by the publication as a "soft-spoken, intelligent lady who is the ideal picture of 1950s womanhood." Despite the strong demand to uphold the morals of the time, Lindsay happens to "harbor a dark secret." She happens to be a lesbian.

Her sexuality renders her "confused and scared" with a fear that she might end up spending the rest of her life alone. But everything is about to change with the arrival of Sara, who is literally out of place and time, when she visited the 1958 "Pleasantville, America."

Citing the statement from executive producer Phil Klemmer, the media outlet added that this will also eventually change Sara's life. Sara, as fans may remember, has been brought back from the dead in one of the episodes from the parent show, "Arrow."

"…she's been consumed by a quest for bloodshed and incapable of having romantic feelings for anyone," the EP said, adding that despite the strict moral codes of the time, love will still find a way.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" kicks off Jan. 21, 2016 on The CW.
