'Lego Batman' Movie News: New Images Unveiled as Trailer Preps for Release
This week is a massive one for the "Batman" franchise as new images for the "Lego Batman" movie have recently been released featuring the Dark Knight's toy brick version.
In one image obtained by U.S.A Today, the Lego hero is seen walking towards what appears to be a microwave oven. With a platter packed with food on his hands, the hero looks sharp and sturdy despite the looming loneliness from the shady kitchen.
Another image features Lego Batman up in the sky, as sparks of fire create yellow and red circles from what appears to be a flying aircraft.
Aside from the new images, animation director Chris McKay shared details about the movie's plot. "Batman is an island onto himself, the only thing he doesn't have is relationships," he explained.
As every Batman fan already knows, Bruce Wayne is some rather lonely and introvert guy. However, the film will introduce viewers into the inner circle that his Lego version will create. The toy brick will apparently work with Robin and Batgirl, as well as his loyal butler, Alfred.
In some way, the plot is expected to appeal more likely to younger audiences as friendship is a central theme that will give the world a whole new look into the Bat hero's softer and possibly funnier side.
There will also be cameo appearances in the upcoming film as McKay explained that they're trying to get as many characters into Batman's life as possible. "We're nothing but exhaustive about the cameos and other characters that try to enter Batman's life," he said.
Singing sensation Mariah Carey will be voicing Gotham's mayor, while Zach Galifianakis will voice the iconic and well-praised nemesis of the Dark Knight: The Joker. While Ben Affleck is the star of "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," fans are also excited to hear what Will Arnett will do to pull off his toy version of the hero.
In line with the release of Affleck's movie on Friday, March 25, a first trailer will also be released on Wednesday, March 23, for the Lego film.
"The LEGO Batman Movie" hits big screens on February 10, 2017.
