LEGO Dimensions To End A Year Early?
The LEGO-themed action-adventure video game "LEGO Dimensions" will be ending a year earlier. This is according to new information which revealed that the Toys-to-life franchise's days are numbered.
So far, the game's publisher Warner Bros. has not confirmed the cancellation. However, sources close to the company say that the game is no more.
It was previously planned that the game will have a lifespan of three years prior to its launch back in October of 2015. For the first year, developers Traveller's Tales and TT Games have been able to stick with the three-year plan and got into planning for its second. However, it now seems that the game won't be lasting any longer.

That being said, three years is not a short time and considering the fate of many of the game's rivals, this recent development shouldn't be that surprising. Disney Infinity has shut down altogether, its release schedule abruptly ditched with plans for figures and game expansions left half-finished. As for Skylanders, they have taken an official break from new game releases with no word with regards to when they will return, if ever.
During its first year, Dimension's releases included popular franchises including "Doctor Who," "Portal," "Scooby-Doo" and "Lord of the Rings." Many packs sold out and were frequently out of stock. However, other themes such as "Ninjago," "The Lego Movie," and DC Comics were often overly represented with figurine packs which often had little in-game incentives for players to buy.
If "LEGO Dimensions" is indeed ending its two-year run, its Year Three plans will probably not come to fruition. Among those that would have been featured included fan-favorite "Lord Vortech," a "Minecraft" expansion, and "The Flash," among other characters. There was also a plan for a camera that can scan real-life LEGO bricks and see them replicated in the game. Sadly though it appears the camera was never green-lit for production, and will probably see the light of day.
Warner Bros. has yet to comment on the recent information.
