Leicester City Owners Plan on Adding 3 to 4 Players After Dream Run

Leicester City is still on a high after winning the club's first ever top level football championship and the media attention they got after the Cinderella-like story. While the team is currently in Bangkok for an extended celebration in their owners' home country, vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha can't help himself but get excited about the immediate future.

Beefing Up the Lineup

A Reuters report quoted the vice-chairman as saying that they intend to get three or four players to compete in the Champions League, although he didn't elaborate on how much money they're willing to spend in order to beef up the lineup ahead of better competition and more games.

The title Leicester City won in the recently concluded Barclays Premier League capped a fairy tale season for a bunch of guys who never were thought to be able to compete at the top level of English football.

Manager Claudio Ranieri confirmed Srivaddhanaprabha's statement that they indeed are looking to sign several players, but quickly ended speculations of them hiring superstars who are worth millions. "It's not so important to bring superstars but to bring players like ours," referring to the fact that they won one of the most prestigious championships in all of football without a big-name or expensive star player.

If It Aint Broken, Don't Fix It

Ranieri knows the importance of keeping the band of players intact – adding superstars may end up backfiring. After all, the success they achieved this year started with team effort without the need of a superstar name. That same team spirit made them a bankable story to football fans all over the world.

By winning the Premier League, the team is now qualified to participate in the group stage of the Champions League next season. The club has quite a busy schedule ahead, including a planned participation in the International Champions Cup and the Community Shield, where they will be facing the victors of the FA Cup.
