LG G2 vs Samsung Galaxy S5: Comparison of Specs, Features

LG and Samsung have both come out with new devices this year as Samsung has recently unveiled its latest flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, while LG has launched its most innovative device to date, the G Flex 2. However, older devices from both companies are still getting a lot of interest due to their superb specs, as well as their marked decrease in price.

The Galaxy S5 continues to perform well in the market, given that it was only released a year ago, while the LG G2 continues to be a reliable device which gives users the pure Android experience.

Design:
Both phones have plastic shells, but the Galaxy S5 has a textured, faux leather back. The Samsung phone is also slightly bigger and heavier than the LG device, as the Galaxy S5 measures 5.59 x 2.85 x 0.32 inches and weighs 5.11 ounces, while the G2 weighs 5.45 x 2.79 x 0.35 inches and weighs 5.04 ounces. The S5 is also more rugged than the G2 — it's IP 67 certified, making it dust and water resistant.

Features:
The Galaxy S5 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density count of 432ppi. The LG G2 has a 5.2-inch IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel count of 423ppi. Both phones' screens have a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to protect them from scratches.

The S5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor and runs on the Android 5.0 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI, while the G2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad core chip set and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat.

Both phones come with 32GB internal memory, however, only the S5's memory can be expanded with a micro SD card up to 128GB, while the same cannot be done with the G2 as the device does not come with a micro SD card slot.

As for the cameras, both phones have a 2.1MP front facing shooter, but the Galaxy S5 has the advantage due to its 16MP rear camera versus the G2's 13MP rear camera.

Price:
Off contract, the LG G2 costs $340, while the Galaxy S5 costs $600.
