'Longmire' Season 5 Rumors: Longer Episodes; Last Season in Series?
Despite the heart and soul depicted in "Longmire" and the many fans supporting the show, recent rumors suggest that season 5 will be the last Netflix can offer for viewers.
Multiple outlets have picked up on the story that claimed there has been an announcement from Netflix regarding the show's season 5 delivering a final good-bye after the season's finale. It should be noted, though, that no official word from the network has been released. For now, fans can trust that the claim is just a speculation.
Late October last year, season 5 was confirmed, giving fans a thumbs up to their efforts in requesting for Netflix to renew the widely acclaimed show. Tony Tost, who wrote three episodes of "Longmire" season 4, also said early in December that he is prepping to write for the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, other reports suggest that the fifth installment will feature longer and more daring episodes, compared to the previous ones in the franchise. This could mean that production is set to deliver scenes that will cut through the hearts of viewers in such a way that the season can't be compared to the previous seasons that depicted undeniably brave stories.
Also, some fans commented that they prefer longer episodes that will explain the episodes much more effectively, instead of the show trying to portray beautiful stories constrained to 42 minutes. Longer episodes don't only mean longer scenes but they also depict a more in-depth exploration of characters and their impact to the meat of the story.
It has also been speculated that the upcoming season may premiere sometime in September of this year, meaning production may start in spring.
At the moment, it is unclear if the show will be renewed for a sixth installment, but fans are on high gear, expecting that with the more improved storyline at hand, the interest of viewers will also be increased, which won't allow Netflix to deny the show another fruitful season.
