'Lucifer' Season 2 News, Spoilers: Premiere Date, Maze to Show 'Demon' Side
A season two for "Lucifer" was announced recently by the Fox network approaching the first season's finale, which aired Monday. Episode 13 of season one found Chloe (Lauren German) and Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) uniting forces to clear Lucifer's (Tom Ellis) name and Maze approaching a realization about her feelings for Lucifer. At the outset, fans now wait with bated breath for the next season to come out and show how the story continues.
Speaking of the season one finale and of Maze's feelings for Amenadiel and Lucifer, Brandt says, "She doesn't know what love is. There is lust, there is loyalty, and she for sure loves Lucifer, but being in love and all the feelings that go along with that is not something that's familiar to her. When she hesitates, there's a moment of, 'Why can't I just do what I've always done? A few weeks ago, I would have killed you in an instant. What is happening?'"
Brandt pointed out that the show did not want the audience believing that Maze has feelings for Amenadiel. The actress further explained that Maze has always been on Lucifer's side whatever happened but that, in the next season, the former would lead a life that was not so focused on Lucifer. She would try to challenge Lucifer, Brandt says. The actress also revealed that that's how it is in the comic book.
And while things seem to grow between the two, Brandt expressed, "I hope they do explore the back story of how these two came together and what makes them so tied to one another."
But then next season Maze would be showing a different side of herself, Brandt reveals, her "demon" side, and that, while she explores this side to her character, she would be on her own.
Fox has not announced the premiere date for the next season, but, with the first one having come out with a first episode in Jan. 25, 2016, it is expected that the following season may come around the same time next year, around Jan. 23.
