'MADtv' Revival to Crash into The CW
After years of waiting, fans of the much-loved comedy sitcom "MADtv" can finally rejoice as it has been confirmed that The CW will be picking up the show for the much-awaited reboot.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the network made the big announcement on Monday, detailing that everything fans have known from the long-running show will be featured in the revival as well. This means all the parodies, political humor, and other comedic sequences will be aired.
David Salzman, who will return as the executive producer and showrunner, said in a press release, "The MADtv franchise is as vibrant as ever thanks largely to social and digital media appealing to a fan base numbering in the millions that relates to the show's brand of authentic and irreverent cross-cultural comedy."

Slash Film suggests that the decision to revive the comedy series is another test that The CW will have to go through as "MADtv" isn't a typical program that the network's audiences is used to. On the other hand, the network has also revived "Whose Line Is It Anyway" and though viewers aren't used to its themes, it has proven to have passed the test of time and has been around for several years.
It is unclear which original characters will return but rumor has it that Alex Borstein, Ike Barinholtz, and Keegan-Michael Key will be back. Bobby Lee and Mo Collins are also included in the list of likely stars who will make their comeback.
It is also expected that new faces will be seen in the reboot and though there are no names announced yet, fans of the original series have expressed their excitement for the new episodes to come.
"MADtv" aired on Fox for more than a decade, from 1995 to 2009 and has gained a lot of viewers and fans around the world. There is no official release date declared yet but it is expected that more details will be revealed in the coming months.
