'Making a Murderer' Season 2 News: Second Season May Be in the Works

The thrill and chill of "Making a Murderer" is taking the world of television into a new realm, and as fans continue to enjoy the in-depth stories, recent reports suggest that a season 2 may already be in the early stages of development.

The first season entailed the story of Steven Avery, a man placed behind bars for charges on sexual assault. He was later exonerated, but once again imprisoned for murder. While it is unclear if an upcoming season will be part 2 of Avery's story, Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos told IGN that "the story is still unfolding, so we'll certainly take a look at it."

Earlier, creators Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi also said the team has been working on information gathering, meaning the making of season 2 is still a long way to go and might take months before an official announcement is made.

Demos also made it clear that another issue the production needs to look at is the "open" aspect of the stories being told. Since the stories are "real-life" events, anything could happen in one trial, which can either hamper production or put filming on hold.

It should also be noted that such a docuseries will need a lot of time and serious paper compilation. In season 1, the show reportedly took out a whole lot of information, specifically evidence, which made the story somehow questionable to some.

However, it is expected that if Netflix comes up with a second installment, the team will now be much more careful, being sure that the team won't be questioned for leaving out necessary information to tell a true story.

It should also be noted that Avery is still serving in prison and appeals are on going, which only makes the speculation stronger that his story will be continued in season 2.
