'Married at First Sight' Season 3 Updates: Ashley Feels Duped After Show Withholds Crucial Information on David
Ashley Doherty and David Norton, Team Dashley, starred in season three of the reality series "Married at First Sight." Of the three couples on the show, they were the earliest who showed possible signs of divorcing at the six-month mark. And, indeed, by Decision Day, the couple had decided to do so. Early on the show the couple had some issues in their relationship, but it had appeared more serious when, even after deciding to divorce, when the couples came back for the "Six Months Later" check-in with the show's experts, they had to film their sessions with Dr. Pepper separately as they reportedly could not stay in the same room together. And now after the reunion, Ashley finds out that the show withheld information from her about David's violent past. And she feels the show somehow betrayed her by doing so.
Ashley's mother, Mary Harnois, has spoken with InTouch Weekly saying, "[Ashley] feels duped. I blame the show. She feels like she was let down in a big way because they told her they do background checks …"
The background check was carried out by DLS Background Services who submitted a request for Norton's court case. This was three days before Doherty and Norton's wedding, June 4, 2015. But the records requested were sent only on the 29th, and by then, the couple had already been married. Even so, the show reportedly had not informed Doherty about their finding, no matter how belated.

Harnois said they had been surprised to learn that Norton had plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge for disorderly conduct after an argument with his now-ex girlfriend. This was back in 2008, and he had also been made to undergo anger management classes.
But Norton denied these allegations saying that he had caught his brother with his girlfriend. In a statement to People, he said, "It also seems some people are looking to find dirt on me. And let me tell you, I'm not perfect. I was arrested when I was 21, after I got into a loud fight with my brother when I caught him with my girlfriend."
He went on to say that, in his anger, he had smashed a phone but had never hit anyone. Norton explained that he was cited for disorderly conduct, though neither his brother nor his ex-girlfriend had filed charges.
He continued, "I was young and stupid---it's something that I deeply regret and it isn't something that I'm proud of. But I learned and grew as a person …Today I can tell you one constant in my life has been that I'm human …but I would never hurt anyone ..."
Finally, the reality star declared he could not change his past, only improve who he is now, which he claimed is "a far cry" from who he was in 2007.
Both FYI Network and Kinetic Content, the show's production company have declined comment.
