Miami Heat Injury Rumors 2016: Chris Bosh Fate Uncertain Over Blood Clot Issues
Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh's medical condition almost ended his career last season, but luckily for him, the blood clots he suffered were treated before the start of the season, allowing him to return to action with a huge sigh of relief.
But according to an AP report, the All-Star forward is currently facing another series of blood clots, suggesting that the previous scare he had last season came back to haunt him. And while several sources are saying that it isn't life threatening, the 31-year-old faces uncertainties with respect to his future in basketball.
Bosh sat the big portion of last year with the blood clots that already reached his lungs, which at that time was deemed as life threatening. But this time, rumor has it that the clot is likely to spread to his pelvis or thighs, which in turn can travel up to his lungs once again. To validate the existence of the clots and figure out how to deal with it considering that the Heat are in the midst of fighting for a playoff position, the team decided to give Bosh some time off to see his doctors.
It is still unclear as to what is causing this recurrence, especially that the tests he got last year revealed that he didn't have a "hypercoagulable" condition in which his blood is naturally prone to forming clots. Now if these new tests reveal he has that condition, it certainly means his career is all but over.
While he sees himself taking blood thinning medication once again, he said right after the All-Star break that he is positive he'll play more games this season. But by taking blood thinners, he puts himself at a greater risk of bleeding, which suggests that if he ever gets cut during the game, it can become more serious than it would normally be.
Doctors say that he can take the medication for some time, but the best course of action is still a three-month treatment plan, which means he'll be back in action by May or the end part of April at least.
