Michael Schumacher Condition Latest News, Updates: Manager Hopes F1 Great Will 'One Day Be Back with Us'
The skiing accident in 2013 left Formula One world champ and legend Michael Schumacher fighting for his life, and while it is good to know that he left the hospital to continue rehabilitation in his vacation home, there is uncertainty as to the hope him coming back to normal life. At this point, any kind of update about the racing great is something to look forward to.
During the launch of an exhibition showcasing his achievements, Schumacher's manager told the press that she hopes he will "one day be back with us," referring to the German driver's unfortunate condition that bars him from attending events like this one. "He is the most successful driver in history and sometimes, on days like this, it is good to be reminded of it," Sabine Kehm said in an emotional speech at Marburg, where an event was held to commemorate Schumacher's two-decade partnership with one of his sponsors, Deutsche Vermögensberatung. The exhibition is for free, and everyone was given access to the German racing great's equipment, cars, and even his private collection.
Progress remains slow
The skiing accident in the French Alps caused him a serious head injury in which doctors were forced to put him in induced coma for a couple of months just to have a chance of saving his life. After almost a year in the hospital, his family decided to move him to his vacation home near Geneva, but his specialist treatment is still ongoing.
Since then, updates about his condition have been scarce since his family opted to keep everything private. In November of last year, FIA president and Schumacher's close friend Jean Todt bared that the 47-year-old was "still fighting," a revelation that could either be interpreted as positive or negative. Two months later, another close friend and former boss at Ferrari Luca di Montezemolo talked about his health, saying that his condition wasn't good.
