Microsoft Surface Pro Rumors: October 4 Release Date?

Rumors have emerged that the upcoming Microsoft Surface Pro may be released two months from now.

The new Microsoft hybrid laptop, the Surface Pro 4, is rumored to be getting a major upgrade and a new design when it is released, reportedly by October 4.

The tablet is geared at pushing Microsoft's new OS to the forefront, and is expected to feature significant design changes from its predecessor, including a larger display, and a thinner and lighter frame. However, it is still expected to be compatible with Surface Pro 3 accessories.

Another speculation points out towards the Surface Pro 4's getting the new Skylake CPU, a sixth generation processor recently announced during the 2015 GamesCom.

The Surface Pro 4 will likely get a USB 3.1 port, but not the new USB Type-C charger that's been making its way to new and upcoming handsets.

The tablet is reported to come in 12-inch 2K display and 14-inch 4K display variants, with 256GB SSDs manufactured by Samsung. Both models will feature 8MP rear cameras and 3.5MP front shooters, with the 12-inch hybrid laptop carrying 4GB of RAM, and 16GB of RAM for the 14-inch version.

Speculated to have a frame made from a magnesium-aluminum alloy, the Surface Pro 4 is expected to sell for $500 for the lower end model and $1,300 for the higher end version.

Users can expect 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 500GB of internal storage, with the device running Windows 10 out of the box, as well as feature the Windows Hello biometric sign-in feature.

Other rumors include a stylus pen that will come as an accessory and is expected to cost an extra $50.

With the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 raking in $1.1 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2015 alone, the Surface Pro 4 is likely to top those earnings with its improved specs and upgraded design.
