Miley Cyrus on VMA Performance: Star 'Couldn't Be Happier,' 'Planned Most of It,' Says Manager
Miley Cyrus planned most of her Video Music Award performance and is quite proud of herself for doing so according to her manager, Larry Rudolph.
In a recent interview, Rudolph revealed that he and those closest to Cyrus, including the singer's mother, were sitting on the sidelines and "cheering" Cyrus on as she performed the number that shocked the world. Cyrus too, couldn't be more proud, according to the source.
"Most of it came from Miley's brain," Rudolph said in an interview with People magazine. "But she collaborated with [her music video director] Diane Martel, who helped her conceive it and bring in the spirit of the VMAs. And with Todd James who designed all of those amazing bears."

While some have speculated that Cyrus was ashamed after criticism ensued following her performance, -- the singer was nominated for two video awards but left the VMA's early -- Rudolph said that was not the case.
"She couldn't have been happier about the performance," he informed the celebrity magazine. And Cyrus was not alone. Rudolph also testified that he, Cyrus's mother, and others close to the singer were all rooting her on from the sidelines.
"We were all cheering from the side of the stage," Rudolph said. "It could not have gone better. The fans all got it. The rest eventually will."
A second source told the magazine that Cyrus was very aware of what she was doing. While others have been critical of both the singer and MTV for airing the performance, the hype that followed has been unmatched.
"MTV and Miley knew exactly what they were doing," the source said. "No one is freaking out."
But some people have "freaked out" a little. The Parents Television Council in a statement that MTV was "exploiting young women" by allowing Cyrus to go on with her performance.
"MTV continues to sexually exploit young women by promoting acts that incorporate 'twerking' in a nude-colored bikini. How is this image of former child star Miley Cyrus appropriate for 14-year-olds?" the statement said in part.
Robin Thicke's mother was also left a little unsettled.
"I don't understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don't understand," Gloria Loring told Yahoo. "I think she's misbegotten in this attempt of hers and I think it was not beneficial."
