MLB Trade Rumors 2015: Arizona Diamondbacks take on Shelby Miller

The Arizona Diamondbacks are slowly building a title-contending team for next season, this time adding Shelby Miller through a trade with the Atlanta Braves. The team announced the trade that involved five players last week.

After winning the convincing game by signing big-time player Zack Greinke, they now have quite a formidable lineup with the addition of Miller. In return, the Diamondbacks sent three players, including Dansby Swanson, the top draft pick in the last draft, who also is a highly touted shortstop project. Aside from Swanson, Atlanta got a pitching prospect in Aaron Blair and outfielder Ender Inciarte.

The deal to get Miller is a big win for Arizona considering that Atlanta seemed poised not to give in during earlier negotiations if star outfielder A.J. Pollock was not included. Eventually, the Braves had to make a choice. Nonetheless, having two young prospects in exchange for Miller should never be looked upon as a bad decision either.

Now that the Diamondbacks finally grabbed Miller, it certainly looks like they will no longer be pursuing free-agent pitcher Mike Leake, who was reportedly being eyed by the team should they miss out on Miller.
With both Greinke and Shelby on board, the team now has one of the strongest rotations in the league coming into the next season. This is a huge development considering that they were at the bottom last season.

The 25-year old Miller produced the best ERA in his career last year at 3.02 with the Braves, after playing many years with the Cardinals, even though he only accumulated a record of 6-17. Greinke's abilities on the other hand are without question, supported by his runner-up finish for the Cy Young award. His deal with Arizona is one of the biggest in the MLB so far, figuring at $206 million for six years.
