MLB Trade Rumors 2015: Everyone's Interested in Jose Fernandez
Jose Fernandez is a young pitcher who has very good potential to become a franchise cornerstone for years to come; and this might be the very reason why everyone seems to be interested in getting him this offseason.
It's kind of hard to imagine why the Miami Marlins are looking to unload him, but it should make perfect sense, though, once teams begin offering the team something in return, and they're certainly in a position to demand anything with Fernandez's caliber.
The New York Yankees, for instance, reportedly reached out to the Marlins to talk about the right-hander, while the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers also took steps to do explore trade possibilities involving the 23-year-old.

But it is quite clear, though, that if ever offers have already been handed out, they haven't been enough thus far. For instance, the Yankees want him but the main question is how much are they willing to give just to get him?
Multiple reports surfaced last week about New York thinking about parting ways with young pitcher Luis Severino, as well as right fielder Aaron Judge and first baseman Greg Bird. All three are young prospects under 23. But at this point, it's just too difficult to imagine that the Yankees are willing to gamble by letting the three go just for a prospect in Fernandez.
Another team that suddenly appeared to be a major player in the trade discussions is the San Francisco Giants, who according to rumors, called the Marlins front office about it. However, while Miami is keeping its line open, they told the Giants that they're not really actively shopping the guy. At any rate, it really isn't a feasible idea for the Giants in the first place because they don't have any promising young player to offer at this point.
Anyone who gets Fernandez's services will be in for a bright future, no doubt about that. He is considered one of MLB's best prospects in years. The right-hander has 2.40 ERA in just three seasons in the league and comes with a remarkable strikeout rate.
