'Mob Psycho 100' Live-Action Series Announced By Netflix
Netflix has announced that it is making a live-action TV adaptation of the hit anime "Mob Psycho 100." The adaptation will be made in collaboration with TV Tokyo and will premiere in Japan in just a few months.
TV Tokyo will produce the show and will air starting January 2018 in its "MokuDora 25" time slot, which is from 1:00 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Fridays. It will follow the time slot's previous offering which included Million Yen Woman (April to June 2017) starring Yojiro Noda (RADWIMPS), Sabolyman Kantaro (July to September 2017) starring kabuki star Matsuya Onoe, and the ongoing Re:Mind (October 2017) starring girl idol group Keyakizaka46.
The series will feature "Ultraman Greed" actor Tatsuomi Hamada as the main character, Mob. The 17-year-old actor previously played the titular character Riku Asakura in "Ultraman Greed."

Internationally acclaimed action/tokusatsu director Kōichi Sakamoto will direct the series with Fuminori Kobayashi serving as producer. The 47-year-old Sakamoto previous works included "Power Rangers," "Heisei Kamen Rider series," and "Hurricane Polymar" and partnered up with Hamada as an episode director of "Ultraman Greed."
"Mob Psycho 100" follows the story of Shigeo Kageyama an average middle school boy, nicknamed Mob for lacking a sense of presence. Beneath his innocent and inconspicuous façade however lies the fact that he is a powerful esper, a human with psychic powers.
As he grows older, his latent abilities continue to increase and become more dangerous. To prevent his powers from getting out of control, Mob lives a life under an emotional shackle. He only wants to live a normal just like his peers, however, this is made impossible by the constant barrage of trouble that keeps coming after him.
The first season of "Mob Psycho 100" premiered in July of 2016 with Studio Bones planning a second season sometime in the future. The live-action series is set to premiere in January 2018 on TV Tokyo.
