Mortal Kombat X' Patch Pulled After Deleting Players' Saved Progress (VIDEO)
"Mortal Kombat X" for PC recently received a major patch earlier in the week to address bugs, but was removed after players complained the patch deleted their saved games.
Developers NetherRealm Studios and High Voltage delivered on a promised patch Wednesday, but quickly pulled it out after players reported the loss of all their saved data.
While the patch was able to smooth over initial wrinkles since the game's release for PC last month, making good on the improvements the developers originally promised, its unintended side effect damaged all saved progress in the game each time the players launched their newly patched "Mortal Kombat X."

While the patch was immediately removed from Steam, the damaged had already occurred. The developers quickly issued an apology on the game's website, informing players they were temporarily pulling the patch until the cause of the data loss was pinpointed and eradicated.
A good number of players complained at the time it took to download the sizeable 16GB patch, only to suffer data loss at every game launch. A petition demanding compensation or refunds appeared at Change.org soon after gamers reported the loss of their saved progress.
According to Digital Trends, while the lost saves may have not, by itself, been reason enough to launch the petition, other major issues that plague "Mortal Kombat X" for PC may have steamrolled the clamor, with players pointing out the PC edition being the worst version of the game.
With criticism already weighing heavily on the PC game due to major technical issues, Eurogamer reported a newly fixed version of the patch has recently been re-launched, with the addition of Jason and other patch fixes, including repair of the lost progress bug.
The developers also directed aggrieved players to their support page for help on game progress affected by the faulty patch.
