'Mr. Robot' Season 2 Update: Star Spills Talks About New Installment
The second season of USA's hit summer breakout "Mr. Robot" is said to feature a massive fallout following the big reveal from its freshman finale.
Sharing this information is none other than the series star himself, Rami Malek, who recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly during the SAG Awards party last Friday.
"Look there's definitely a fallout from what happened in season 1 and that will be broached," the actor, who plays Elliot Alderson in the show, told the media outlet.
In that interview, Malik went on inform EW that they haven't started filming yet but the cast is about to meet for a read through of the parts for the first half of Season 2. He told the publication that the new installment will "delve much more into the psychosis and his [Elliot] mental illness this year."
According to the critically acclaimed actor, the new chapter will be solely helmed by the series creator, Sam Esmail.
"We're going to shoot everything as if we're shooting a movie, so just jumping around from episode to episode, which seems very daunting…," he added.
Esmail, during the 2016 Television Critics Association Winter press tour, was quoted as saying by TV Insider that if Season 1 is about Elliot's "emotional journey," "Season 2 is about how Elliot will comes to terms with the fact that he's seeing this fantasy."
"It's going to be about Elliot really negotiating with himself since that's a tough pill to swallow."
The latest casting news, for the meantime, was cited over at EW. The report indicated that "American Horror Story" and "Extant" star Grace Gummer has joined the series for a regular role.
In particular, she will be portraying the character of Dominique (Dom) DiPierro. As revealed, the newcomer is an FBI field agent who will be investigating the Evil Corp Hack. Along with this, she will try to track and pin down the infamous fsociety which Elliot founded.
"Mr. Robot" returns to USA later this year.
