'Narcos' Season 2 Update: Series Loses Showrunner, Release Date Affected?
When Netflix confirmed the renewal of American crime drama TV series "Narcos" for season 2, followers of the show have been looking forward to seeing it again on the small screen. However, it seems like it hasn't been smooth sailing for the production team of the show that may just affect its release.
According to Crossmap, "Narcos" has currently no showrunner for its second run. When the first season of the series wrapped up in April, co-creator and executive producer Chris Brancato stepped down as showrunner to accept a deal with ABC Studios.
This led Netflix to hire Adam Fierro in replacement for the vacant position. But reports say now that Fierro has stepped down as well from the showrunner role.

With that said, fans are worried that the series will not be able to return on the day it is expected. "Narcos" season 2 has been scheduled for release in August 2016, but without a showrunner, there's a possibility that the show might be delayed.
Entertainment Weekly reported that in order to fill up the spaces, writer-producers Jose Padilha and Eric Newman have been bidden to return as executive producers. They will be working with a team of writers, which means that no one will be appointed the specific title "showrunner" for the production of the second season.
As for the reason of Fierro's departure, Deadline noted that he has already accomplished the services that he has been contracted for in season 2.
When "Narcos" season 2 returns, it will be taking on a slower pace since a lot of things have happened in the first season. Youth Health Mag noted that Wagner Moura, who plays as Pablo Escobar, shared a few spoilers Reddit. He said that for the final episodes of the first season, he really enjoyed doing them.
"On those episodes it was a different Pablo, he had changed... and that aims to what we are doing in the second season," said Moura.
