NBA Trade Rumors 2017: Suns Not In A Hurry To Trade Eric Bledsoe

Despite the very public fallout between point guard Eric Bledsoe and the Phoenix Suns, the team is in no hurry to make a deal. This is according to general manager Ryan McDonough as the team doesn't have much leverage in their efforts to trade the disgruntled player.

To address this, it appears that the team is looking to use Tyson Chandler to sweeten the deal. This is according to New York Times reporter Marc Stein who posted on his Twitter that the team might be trying to include the veteran center in the deal.

However, it might be too little too late given that the Suns will likely come out as a loser in any trade involving Bledsoe even without letting go of Chandler. According to AZ Central, the fact that McDonough has no timetable to trade Bledsoe pretty much assures that the team will not receive equal or greater value for the point guard.

Every day that passes that the disgruntled player stays in the team erodes his trade value. This is mainly because of the fact that if a player shows he is unhappy with one franchise and doesn't show the maturity of how to deal with it, then other teams will fear the same response. It might also show that he lost his desire to play in a poorly performing team thinning causing even more teams from backing out from any potential trade.

Bledsoe also started the year poorly with only 15.7 points average. While this might not be entirely his fault, it might be enough to convince some teams that the 27-year-old might not be in prime basketball shape.

Still, Bledsoe's contract is manageable for most teams at $14.5 million this season and $15 million next season. A traditional two-team trade would generally work perfectly although with the potential addition of Chandler, some teams might shy away from any deal. The Bucks and the Nuggets are currently in the "lead" to pick up Bledsoe with the Clippers, Celtics, and Heat likely to join in.

Overall though, the Suns handled the Bledsoe situation poorly. Not only did one of their top players become disenfranchised but they might not even recoup what Bledsoe is worth for the team. In the end though, it's the fans that are being done a disservice as they watch the once great franchise stumble once more.
