New England Patriots News: Rob Gronkowski Has Bruised Right Knee in Pats' First Loss

Patriots' tight end Rob Gronkowski looked very hurt during his team's first loss against the Denver Broncos last Sunday. The Pats saw their star being carted off the field to what appeared as an injured knee, but it was later confirmed that it is nothing but a bruised right knee without tears, which means that he'll be back sooner than expected.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter later revealed that Gronkowski though isn't expected to see action this week and has been listed as "week-to-week." But the good news for the Patriots and their fans is that though he's going to miss one or a couple of games, he sure is going to be back before the regular season ends.

The incident leading to the injury happened with just over two minutes left in the fourth, when Gronkowski took a low hit from Broncos defensive back Darian Stewart in an incomplete pass. His leg flogged back after making contact with Stewart.

Although New England quarterback Tom Brady sees it as an unfortunate tactic from defenders, he admitted it was a clean play. "I hate to see it, but it really is the only way defenders can hit now. I bet if you ask the players, they would really go high than low," he said. "I don't think it's dirty. I just think that it is how football is played now," the star quarterback added.

The loss would have been a slight and minor concern compared to losing the team's second most important man, but the Pats actually escaped tragedy on Sunday. However, it is no secret that Gronkowski is a constant target of the same play every single game, especially with his size and the fact that defenders who hit high are more likely going to hit the head, which in turn results to hefty fines and even suspension.

At this point, Patriots fans are just hoping he'll be back on the field soon and help the team regroup after suffering their first loss of the season.
