New Steam Indie Games For October 2017
October is here and with the start of a new month means more new games for Steam. With AAA games getting all the spotlight, it's time to shed some love on a number of indie titles that just might be worth buying.
First off is "Battle Chasers: Nightwar." Set to be released on Oct. 4, the indie-role playing game said to be inspired by classic console greats and at first glance, it is definitely reminiscent of popular turn-based RPGs.
However, what really sets the game apart is its non-linear gameplay. With six characters exploring randomly-generating dungeons coupled with excellent enemy and character designs and a crafting system to boot, "Battle Chasers: Nightwar" is expected to be a game with high replayability. It's currently available for 10 percent off on Steam.
Fan of the horror genre? This might not be the "Evil Within" or "Until Dawn" but "Inmates" boasts gameplay that will certainly hair-raising to even the most dauntless horror fan.
Players are put in the shoes of Jonathan who must solve puzzles to gain his freedom. Featuring claustrophobic environments and terrifying imagery, the game is a definite contender to be crowned scariest indie game of the year. "Inmates" is set to be released on Oct. 6.
For those who aren't into peeing their pants in the middle of a game, "A Hat in Time" is a 3D platformer that is the epitome of cute and cuddly.
The game tells the story of a girl who needs to stitch new hats to upgrade her abilities and retrieve the Time Pieces for her journey. But before dismissing this game as childish, it should be noted that it reached over 10 times its goal on Kickstarter. "A Hat in Time" is set to be released on Oct. 6.
Now for those who want to eat action for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and possibly as a midnight snack. "Dusk" is a game that resembles the typical 90's first-person shooter mainly because the game wants to pay homage to such legacy.
Gamers who grew up playing "Quake" and "Half-Life" will feel right at home with the same amount of blood and action as seen in the classic titles. Set to be released on Oct. 31 as three separate campaign episode, "Dusk" will definitely pander to gamers seeking a little nostalgia.
