New York Knicks Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Plays Down Rumors of Phil Jackson Coaching Once Again

New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony does not believe it's a good idea for team president and legendary coach Phil Jackson to return to coaching once again. According to him, he's just too old for a job that is physically draining.

The Knicks are not really a good team right now. It's even unfair to call them decent considering the struggles and piles of defeats they've had to face and endure this season. When former head coach Derek Fisher was booted out before the All-Star break, it was pretty clear the team needed to have a dominating figure in the sidelines, and the 70-year old Jackson should be a rational choice should they want to start winning again.

In a report from the New York Post, Anthony said that he even is not on board with the idea that Jackson will be coaching the team's home games, while also trying to suggest that he also is not that keen on having interim coach Kurt Rambis named as the head coach. Though he didn't explicitly said it, he implied that it would be great if Jackson talks to other candidates.

The rumor of Jackson's impending return to the sidelines was fueled by the news from ESPN, saying that the former Chicago Bulls headman found himself in better shape in the past few months. The report even claimed that his fiancée, Jeanie Buss, talked to him about returning.

USA Today believes Anthony's opinion makes a lot of sense. Jackson already owns an impressive track record as a coach, having won 11 titles with the Bulls and the Los Angeles Lakers. If he really did consider and eventually decided to return to coaching, the act itself will be seen as a big risk to tainting his winning legacy.

Even if he has one of the most brilliant basketball minds in history, it is hard to believe that he can get this current Knicks roster to embrace winning.
