New York Mets Rumors: Is There Something Wrong With Matt Harvey?

A couple of days back, the New York Mets received news that pitcher Matt Harvey is suffering from an unknown non-baseball type of illness. Both the team and its fans obviously had to be concerned since he is slated to be the Opening Day starter on Sunday against the Kansas City Royals.

The good news is after a day of the revelation, the Mets can now breathe a sigh of relief after learning that Harvey suffered from a blood clot in his bladder, but he reportedly is good to go after undergoing a minor procedure. According to the team, he now will be subjected to some light baseball activities, including a few innings today so as to figure out if he's indeed ready to go for Sunday's game.

The New York Times reported that Harvey thought something was wrong with him after noticing some discoloration in his urine a couple of days back. "I didn't really know what was going on," the 27-year old said. "I was having trouble using the restroom… I didn't know what was going on with my stomach," he added.

After a visit to the doctor, he was told to have developed a bladder infection that resulted to the clot. But in spite of the serious health risk, he managed to crack a joke at the reporters eager to learn more about his condition. "I guess the main issue is I hold my urine in for too long, instead of peeing regularly," he said, with all those around him bursting into a laugh.

Although a clot and infection in the bladder is something that shouldn't be described as a minor health issues, Mets fans couldn't been more relieved to learn about his actual condition. It was a scary two days for everyone, especially after management declined to give details. At this point, Mets fans can now relax and hope he'll recover in time for Opening Day.
