NFL Rumors 2016: Johnny Manziel Hires High Profile Agent, Hopes to Revive Career

After all the trouble and off-field issues that obviously affected his stock, free agent quarterback Johnny Manziel isn't giving up on his NFL career just yet. Multiple sources claim that the former Cleveland Browns player hired one of the most renowned professional sports agents in Drew Rosenhaus.

The move can be career-defining for the former first round draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, who saw himself get booted out of Cleveland amid all the legal problems he's facing outside of football. Obviously, Rosenhaus' job is to find Manziel a new home in the NFL. But despite his reputation, he certainly will have a difficult time convincing team that the quarterback still has something worthy to offer.

It wasn't just the Browns that dropped the quarterback because his former agent, Erik Burkhardt did the same right after the end of the season.

ESPN reported that the 2012 Heisman Trophy recipient is expected to be charged criminally after a domestic violence incident that happened in Texas, where his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley alleged that Manziel hit her in the head after both had a misunderstanding after going out on Jan.30.

Aside from the potential criminal charges, the 23-year old is also under investigation by the league for a bunch of off-field antics and issues.

According to the Daily Mail, Rosenhaus is a powerful agent who represents several other high profile NFL players, including tight end Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, and RB LeSean McCoy of Buffalo.

One of the first things Rosenhaus needs to do with Manziel is to try to minimize his partying ways – an act that forced the Browns to cut him because they felt like he never really took his responsibility as a pro football player seriously. Once he's able to show he can man up and focus on football, he has a lot of potential to become a great player, something everyone expected him to be when Cleveland drafted him.
