Nibiru Hoax: Conspiracy Theory Suggests Planet Will Collide With The Earth On Sept. 23

Despite being debunked time and time again, apocalyptic predictions never seem to lose their popularity. This time, the next "apocalypse" is set to occur on Sept. 23 by Nibiru conspiracy theorists who claim that a planet will collide with the Earth destroying all life.

People who subscribe to the theory, most notably David Meade, believe that a planet hidden in the Solar System by the name of Planet X. The Mercury-sized planet is believed to be on a collision course and has remained undetected by scientists.

The conspiracy theory has gotten quite a bit of publicity in tabloids as well as videos posted on Youtube and other video sharing websites. Many of them point to passages in the Bible most notably Revelation 12:1.

The passage reads "A great sign appeared in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head. And being with child, she cried out in her travail and was in anguish of delivery."

According to Meade, the "great sign in heaven" refers to the solar eclipse that was witnessed last month across the country. He then explains that "the great sign of the woman" referred to in the passage forms and lasts for only a few hours on Sept. 23 adding that according to computer-generated astronomical models, the sign has never occurred in all of human history.

The sign heralds the arrival of Planet X, a huge planetary body that would interfere with the Earth. The recent flurry of hurricanes hitting the southern United States is also claimed to be more signs of the impending apocalypse.

However, as experts have done before and will do so again, they are advising people not to cancel their plans this weekend. This seems to be a logical advice as it is a scientific one because if the world is indeed going to end, people might as well enjoy their final moments.
