Hamilton won the Formula One World Championship in 2008 during his second season as a racecar driver. But in recent years he has been less successful. This year he moved to the Mercedes race team after a more than 14-year relationship with McLaren. Currently fourth in the championship, and still 55 points behind leader Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull, Hamilton still has a ways to go in order to prove himself.

Despite his career being on the line, he may have other thing on his mind as well. After noting the five-year milestone in his relationship, Hamilton noted that becoming engaged to Scherzinger was looming possibility.

"Maybe before we get to six years," he told the England-based paper.

Meanwhile, former championship titleholder Nigel Mansell has said that Hamilton still has the chance of winning a second gold.

"I won my world championship when I was 39, so because of the longevity of a race car driver, with all the safety they have, coupled with the commitment and the desire he has, Hamilton can win it again," Mansell said during an interview with the BBC.

Mansell suggested that, given enough time, Hamilton could dominate once again.

"In time he will get better and better. Once he settles down and gets a season underneath him he will start to absolutely fly and win races," he said. "When everything comes together he can become a dominant British race driver again."
