Nintendo Confirms Fall Release Date for Next Wave of Amiibo
The next wave of amiibo are due to hit shelves sometime in the fall, Nintendo of America announced.
Nintendo of America says six new amiibo are expected to be released by Sept. 11: Dr. Mario, Zero Suit Samus, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr., Olimar, and Mario from the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary collection.
The amiibo Mario amiibo will come in 8-bit classic colors, and will be released together with the Super Mario Maker in Europe.

The Mario figurines will be available in two varieties – the traditional NES Super Mario Bros. amiibo in the classic colors of brown and red, and the modern colors Mario in blue and red.
Three more amiibo, Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., and Duck Hunt, are expected to be released on September 25 to form part of the Retro 3 Pack, which is available at a GameStop pre-order event on August 8.
Nintendo also confirmed three other Mii Fighter-type amiibo figures, Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, and Mii Gunner, which were originally intended for a September release, will be launched in a 3-pack by November instead.
Considered one of the most successful Nintendo products, amiibo have become popular gaming toys among collectors. Despite being rare and difficult to find, fans and game figurine collectors appear to be up to the challenge and have made amiibo significant within the Japanese gaming company.
Amiibo have their own niche in the marketpace for sellers and re-sellers, with the most recent craze a race to obtain the Palutena figure sold exclusively on Amazon.
With Nintendo announcing the next wave of a total of nine amiibo to arrive in September, collectors and fans of the gaming giant will be lining up for a chance to pre-order the next batch of collectibles, particularly after the announcement of two 3-pack amiibo.
