Nintendo Looking To Increase Video Recording Time On Switch
Nintendo might be looking to increase the video recording time on the Nintendo Switch. This comes after the hybrid console's recent system update which introduces the ability to use the Capture button to record gameplay videos on selected titles.
Currently, the feature only allows up to 30 seconds of recording time. However, a new report suggests that the company is looking to extend this limit allowing Switch owners to record videos for up to five minutes.
For the moment, however, it looks like Nintendo is planning to restrict the duration to 30 seconds until all first-party games support the new video capture function. From there, the company will approach developers that are using their characters in their respective games and ask them to get on board with the function.
By allowing all their games, as well as those from third-party developers, utilize the function, Nintendo can have enough information on how successfully it has been integrated into the Switch's firmware. Only then can they consider the possibility of additional time being added to the feature.
However, this process will likely take a while so there's no telling how long it will take for Nintendo to implement the changes. Currently, they are only focused to have as many titles integrate the function. This will be done through successive updates with the exception of titles that were already confirmed to support the feature upon release.
In addition to video capture, Nintendo also added the ability for owners to transfer save and user data between two Switch consoles. This means that users who have been sharing the console with family or friend can now transfer their data when they are able to get their very own Switch.
The Nintendo Switch took the title of best-selling console last month with over 2 million units sold in the United States since its launch.
