'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 Cast Welcomes 2 New Members: Anna and Kristoff Roles Filled

"Once Upon a Time" finally has its new characters set: "Frozen" characters Anna and Kristoff have officially been cast by the ABC series.

Scott Michael Foster, 29, will play the ice picker Kristoff, who helps Anna as she tries to save her sister, Elsa, from herself and her magic. He will be joined by Elizabeth Lail, who will play Anna. The two will appear in the upcoming season of the series along with an unnamed actress who will take on the difficult task of portraying the Ice Queen Elsa.

Foster is a seasoned actor who has starred on "Greek," "Californication," and the new ABC Family series, "Chasing Life." His character is a bit of an oaf who has spent his entire life outdoors in the company of wild animals – most famously a moose – and must adjust to civilized life. That will be one of the main themes for his character this season … winning Anna's heart and finally learning to be a proper, civilized man.

Lail is a newcomer who will be challenged by playing the younger sister of Queen Elsa. In "Frozen," Anna did all that she could to protect her sister from the dangerous, possibly lethal, magic that she had. Elsa has the ability to freeze anything that she touches; it's a power that she kept hidden her entire life after accidentally hurting Anna. Once her secret was revealed, she sought solace in the forest, but Anna went on a quest to bring her sister back in order to be a proper queen.

"Once Upon a Time" writers have said that they will be faithful to the images and storyline Disney proposed in the popular film, though there is always room for a twist or two. As "Once" enters into its fourth season, not only will Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff join the cast, the Knave from "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" will also appear in Storybrooke, though it's unknown what his story arc will be.
