'Orange Is the New Black' Season 4 News: Laverne Cox Spills Details

The Golden Globes is a time for celebrating, meeting with old friends, and sporting the hottest and brightest suits, and for Laverne Cox, it's obviously more than that as she spilled some details for the upcoming season of "Orange Is the New Black."

According to E! News, Cox spent some time talking to Ryan Seacrest, dishing some information that fans may consider as spoilers for the "deepest" season that the series ever had yet.

First, the 31-year-old actress told Seacrest that she is very thankful for having been part of the show that happened to be nominated at the Golden Globes for Best Television Series, Comedy or Musical. She said being a cast member "changed my life," adding that the series has opened the eyes of many people to the "unprecedented diversity of women on television."

For the upcoming season, Cox said fans should prepare for a more serious tone. "We're going deeper into the issues of these women and the criminal justice system and it's getting even more real if you can believe it," she said.

Before ending her red carpet talk with Seacrest, Cox called out to the people who think their lives "are treated like they don't matter." She reminded fans who have been attached to the show that every person's life matters, just like her portrayal of Sophia, who seems to have lost it all but tries to go on for her son.

It should be noted that her character, Sophia, was moved to the SHU in season 3, which means there is a possibility that Cox might not appear in the premiere episode. On the other hand, it is expected that Sophia's stay at the SHU will definitely change her and the people around her.

Sophia was placed out of the regular inmates' unit for her "protection" since she has been attacked by inmates several times already. Even before the attacks that led her to the SHU, she already had a lot on her plate, and the upcoming season is expected to reveal a different person.

Season 4 of "Orange Is the New Black" is scheduled to start airing in the summer of 2016 on Netflix.
