'Orphan Black' Season 4 News: Co-Creators Shed Light On The New Clone's Identity

The hype for "Orphan Black," BBC America's hit sci-fi TV drama series, is getting more and more intense as the days go by. Although there would still be roughly four months to go before Season 4 premieres on the small screen, a slew of promo teasers are already being rolled out.

Just this Christmas, the network premiered a rather brief clip showing a close up shot of a bionic eye. Accentuated with the sound of someone breathing heavily, fans were quick to deduce that the entity who possesses the modified viewing could be the nefarious clone Rachel Duncan. For those who missed it, the latter went under the knife during the Season 2 finale.

This week, meanwhile, "Orphan Black" released yet another unnerving teaser which can be seen below. Shared over at YouTube, the clip features a new clone character wearing a facial mask. The latter can be seen in the woods alone and running away from what seems to be a lurking threat.

In an interview with the people from Entertainment Weekly, series co-creators John Fawcett and Graeme Manson shed light on the new player.

Played by Tatiana Maslany and going by the name of M.K., the new clone is said to possess "vital information" which she has long been keeping away from the wrong hands.

When asked about the aforementioned character, Fawcett revealed that M.K. is a "slightly traumatized clone who has a deep past." The showrunner added that she is "quite highly skilled and very smart." More than that, she is a clone who has been aware of herself for some time alrady.

Manson chimed in to say that apparently, M.K. knows more things and that it is important for Sarah to meet her. She can be helpful with the sestra but the EP warned that there's a bit of "dangerous side" to the newcomer as well.

As for the reason why it's only now that she came out, Fawcett said:

"She's very paranoid. She's very security conscious," the show boss told EW and added that, "She knows more than Sarah does so she knows how dangerous the whole thing is. She's purposefully avoided contact with the sisters to keep herself safe…"

"Orphan Black" Season 4 premieres on BBC America this April 2016.
