Fans of "Outlander" have been waiting for news on who will play Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie's (Sam Heughan) daughter. While showrunner Ron Moore said that they still have not found the right fit for the new character, a new announcement triggered speculations that Maeve Foley will be Brianna Randall in the second season of the time travel series, according to Realty Today.
Some of the new characters for "Dragonfly in Amber" have already been revealed, except for Brianna. But a new announcement emerged about Foley joining the cast of "Outlander" season 2, sparking rumors that she will play the daughter of the main characters, the Franchise Herald reports.

"Irish beauty Maeve Foley, who describes herself as a dancer, actress, and model on Twitter, has already been welcomed to the show's cast by 'Outlander' fans," the Herald quotes an announcement about Foley joining the "Outlander" crew. "However, the 22-year-old's role on the show has not yet been confirmed."
Based on Diana Gabaldon's second book, Brianna is a tall redhead in her early 20s with distinct blue eyes — physical traits that Foley also has. Although her involvement in the production has already been announced, her actual role has not yet been revealed, the report details.
In "Outlander" season 2, Brianna is described as Claire and Jamie's biological daughter. However, due to Claire's unusual situation, their child will bear Frank's (Tobias Menzies) surname. Brianna will grow up as a smart, charming, and head-strong American girl. Frank Randall will reportedly raise her in Boston to be a "scholastic" lady, but some of her real father's Scottish traits will later on shine through.
Meanwhile, "Outlander" has helped boost the tourism industry in Scotland. Sadly, this failed to be recognized during the Scottish BAFTA award nomination because the show seemed to have been snubbed. Heughan has expressed his dismay at the nomination snub, but he did congratulate the other nominees, the report relays.
"Outlander" season 2 will reportedly begin airing next year on Starz.
