'Outlander' Season 2 News: Series Stars Reveal Details of Upcoming Show Chapter
To keep the anticipation alive, the stars of Starz's hit time-travel drama TV series "Outlander" offer new updates on what are about to transpire in the show's upcoming season 2.
In an interview for the latest cover story of Entertainment Weekly, actor Sam Heughan, who plays the character Jaime in the series, told the media outlet that "season 2 is certainly a whole new show."
It was further revealed that right in the beginning of the first half season 2, fans will find Jaime and his wife in a different timeline, and Claire (Caitrona Balfe) ditching the "untamed landscapes of Scotland" for a whole new kind of world of "fancy gowns, lavish apartments, and French royalty."
Balfe chimed in that the new chapter will draw the audience deep into a storyline where there's so much "political weaving and maneuvering" as they make their way into the French aristocracy. Their mission is to influence the ruling French king not to fund Boonie Prince Charlie's (Andrew Gower) Jacobite Rebellion because if the uprising happens, it will see the defeat of the Highlanders at the Battle of Culloden Moor.
Adding more pressure to the situation is Claire's pregnancy with Jaime's child. Jaime, on his part, will have to come to terms with the suffering he encountered from the hands of the atrocious Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies) back in season 1.
Earlier this month, the network dropped a teaser video featuring some of the intriguing scenes of season 2. Among the highlights is a very dramatic exchange between the two lovers.
"Promise me that we'll find a way back into each other," Jaime tells Claire. "Wherever you may go, make sure you're safe."
It appears that Claire will need all of the good bidding because toward the end of the video, it was revealed that Claire will arrive at her original timeline. She can be found lying weak and in a recovery state at a certain hospital. Her husband, Frank (Menzies), emerges and tells his wife he's happy to see her. But the nurse is clearly not sharing the same sentiment.
"Outlander" season 2 premieres April 9 on Starz.
