Pacquiao vs Algieri on Nov. 22, Algieri Speaks Out Regarding Pacquiao Being a Southpaw
While Mayweather is still looking for a reason to fight Pacquiao, the Filipino boxer is getting ready for his next fight against American Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 at the Venetian Macao hotel. Pacquiao is regarded as one of the top boxers in the world with 56-5-2 (38KOs) in his record and Algieri has something to say about his opponent.
Algieri refers to Pacquiao as a southpaw and says that he's already defeated six southpaws and doesn't see any reason why he can't beat another. Even with a 20-0 record with 8 Kos though, he is regarded as the underdog in this fight.
"My coach, Tim Lane is actually a southpaw. He's a lefty. So, we've never had a problem dealing with soutpaws in the past and Tim knows all of the southpaw tricks and how to deal with them," Algieri said.

"It's just that when you are talking about soutpaws in general, it's dealing with punches from that angle and getting used to a right hook as opposed to a left hook and to a straight left hand coming down the pipe with power or the jab from that side and getting comfortable with that," he adds.
Pacquiao is clearly the speedier fighter in this match but Algieri admits that and says that there are a few fighters in his camp who match the Filipino boxer in size and speed. While he certainly can't match Pacquiao's speed, he would match it with well-timed counters.
He says that nobody in his camp has faced anybody with Pacquiao's style and that Manny is his own style and person. He adds that nobody fights like him.
"This is my seventh southpaw though that I've fought, so that's nothing new to me. I've worked with tons of speed guys in the gym and the thing about speed is that I'm not a slow guy myself," Algieri said.
