'Person Of Interest' Season 5 News: Series May End After Fifth Season, EP J.J. Abrams Reveals
"Person of Interest," the sci-fi crime drama created by Jonathan Nolan, may end after its fifth season, "POI" executive producer J.J. Abrams has revealed.
"My guess is it is the final season," Abrams told the press at the Television Critics Association's press tour in Pasadena, CA on Saturday, Entertainment Weekly reports. "The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued," he said.
Abrams went on to praise Nolan's and co-executive producer Greg Plageman's work on the show and disclosed that the two are done wrapping up the episodes for Season 5. He also said that though "Person of Interest" does not have a Season 5 schedule yet, he is confident that the episodes "will see the light of day." "I know the power of that story," he said.

Though the "POI" executive producer expressed sadness over the possible cancellation of the show, he also went on to say that, having had as many years as "Person of Interest" had, "it's very hard to complain." "It's a miracle to get a show on the air and to have it last that long is something that we should just be grateful for," Abrams added.
"But I do love that show and I would've loved to see that continue," he said.
In May of the previous year, Deadline reported that among the line-up of CBS shows, "Person of Interest," as well as "2 Broke Girls," "The Odd Couple," and "Mike & Molly" had been left out of the fall schedule. According to the entertainment news website, that and the fact that the series order for the fifth season of the show had been reduced to just 13 episodes, echoes the exit strategy that CBS employed for "The Mentalist." Though CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler did not confirm whether or not the series is ending, she did reveal that it was a possibility. "Limitless," which is executive produced by Bradley Cooper and is based on the film he starred in, took over the "Person of Interest" timeslot.
The fifth season of "Person of Interest" is on the midseason bench and is set to debut sometime in the 2015-16 television season.
