Peyton Manning Latest News: Is the Star Quarterback Done?

Peyton Manning may well become the best quarterback in the history of American football, but he's only human. It's quite ironic actually to see him achieve history by becoming NFL's all-time passing yards leader and at the same time performing in probably the worst game in his storied career during the Broncos' loss to the Chiefs last week.

Manning passed another great, Brett Favre, in the list with 71,871 yards, but many believe that the quarterback is all but done. Such a thought is unbearable and unthinkable for Denver fans, but it is something that will have to be answered sooner than later.

However, there's one player who is honest enough to consider it. According to leading tackler Brandon Marshall, he's being thinking about it. Talking about Manning's injury and father time, Marshall commended his teammate as being one of the best all time. "I'm not going to lie, I've pondered it a little bit, but I try not to think about it too much. I know we've got a season to finish," he added.

Aside from the passing yards achievement, Manning is also the current record holder for the franchise's list of consecutive starts, which the veteran holds at 57. However, he will have to settle for that number because it'll end on Sunday when backup Brock Osweiler gets the start. The team said that Manning won't be starting because of injuries.

Manning has been battling injuries in his right shoulder, left foot, and ribs, and head coach Gary Kubiak believes that it is best for him not to participate in meetings and practices in order to completely put his time on rehabilitation. As a matter of fact, he will be left in Denver to proceed with the rehab, while the rest of the Broncos travel to Chicago.

And at 39, it wouldn't really be a shame to call it quits, especially in a sport that breeds on full contact. Manning is already a five-time MVP in the NFL and it's really easy to accept that he is nearing or is already at the twilight of one of the most storied careers in football.
