Pixar Releases Trailer for 'The Good Dinosaur' (VIDEO)

Pixar and Walt Disney just released the trailer for its latest computer animated film "The Good Dinosaur."

The first full-length trailer for Pixar Animation Studios and Walt Disney Pictures made its debut Tuesday, featuring an alternate timeline for the dinosaurs.

The new 3D comedy adventure film, directed by Peter Sohn, who also helmed 2013's "Monsters University" for Pixar, re-imagines an Earth which an asteroid passes by and where dinosaurs were never wiped out.

The story follows a young Apatosaurus, Arlo, whose father is killed in an accident. Arlo is knocked into a river one day, and is carried off far away from his home. Trying to find his way back, he meets a human cave-boy he calls Spot and forges a friendship with him.

Along the way, they encounter scary-looking dinosaurs, have an adventure in a field of fireflies at night, and another field of butterflies in the daytime.

The computer animated film, which is due out in U.S. cinemas by Thanksgiving, portrays humans in a feral state and depicts a scene with Spot howling at a full moon, and growling at a prehensile serpent to defend Arlo. Meanwhile the dinosaur appears to have adopted him as a pet.

The trailer, despite lacking in dialogue, features an epic adventure between two friends, and has been on Pixar's schedule since 2011. Initially starring John Lithgow and Neil Patrick Harris' voices, the script ended up completely rewritten, and a new cast hired for the story, pushing back its original release date from 2014 to 2015.

"Drake and Josh" actor Raymond Ochoa plays Arlo, with a supporting cast of Jeffrey Wright, Steve Zahn, Sam Elliott, and Oscar winners, Anna Paquin and Frances McDormand.

"The Good Dinosaur" is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters on Nov. 25.
