'Player Unknown's Battlegrounds' Has No Plans For Single Player Campaign
"Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" will not have a single-player campaign. This is according to creator Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene who said they have neither the time nor resources to develop the feature at this time.
Earlier this year, Greene said he wanted to explore the idea of a single-player campaign for the massively popular game. This obviously made a buzz in the community which now has millions of members from all over the world.
According to Greene, he already wrote a backstory regarding the game's island although this was mainly to give the artists a reference point to make a more believable, authentic environment. The island's lore gave him an idea about a "pretty cool" single-player mode and even a co-op single-player campaign.

However, it appears that if the feature does arrive it won't be for a very long time. For now, bringing cross-play support to the game seems to be a top priority for the game's developers although Greene said he would like to explore PUBG's lore "maybe someday."
"Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" is currently available on the PC via Steam Early Access and later this year, on the Xbox One's Game Preview program. According to Greene, because the experience is going to be the same on both platforms they really want these players to play together but to do that fairly is another question.
"It's something we're looking into, but right now we don't have anything to say about it," he added. "But we would like to see it happen. But how we do that requires a bit of work."
The game's popularity has been growing at a staggering pace overtaking big names like "Dota 2" and "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" in terms of concurrent players. However, this has greatly strained Bluehole's capacity with server issues being a major problem in the past few weeks.
At this point, a single-player mode seems to be a luxury for Greene and his team given the limited resources they currently have. But with time, the feature is definitely within the realm of possibility the only question is that if "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" are willing to wait for it.
