'Player Unknown's Battlegrounds' PS4 Release Date News: PUBG Corp. CEO Wants To Release Game On Every Platform
There's no doubt that "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds" is one of the most popular, if not the most popular, game of the decade. However despite its popularity, the game remains locked on two platforms – the Xbox One and PC – which leaves many gamers wondering when it will arrive on other platforms such as the PlayStation 4.
According to PUBG Corporation Chang Han Kim, if presented with the opportunity the company wants to release the hit battle royal title on "every platform."
However, while the Steam and Xbox pre-release programs have virtually no restrictions, Sony is very strict when it comes to quality. As such, "Player Unknown's Battlegrounds," along with its eight-digit sales records and diverse player-base, will remain as an Xbox One console exclusive and a PC title.
"As it's going to be an exclusive title on Xbox One for some time, we'd like to focus on completing the Xbox One PUBG for now," Kim said. "We are still in the stage of learning the console development environment and console gamers' taste. We need to think about other platforms after evaluating and completing the Xbox One version first."
It was revealed back in September that PUBG Corp. parent company Bluehole was already undergoing talks with Sony to bring the title to the PS4. However, judging from Kim's words, the game is unlikely to become a PS4 title at least until it leaves Xbox One Preview Program, and even then it still has a long way to go before it becomes playable on the platform.
"PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" has peaked with a massive 3,106,358 concurrent players on the PC platform alone having already broken the record set by Dota 2 back in September. Now, the game still remains to be one of the most popular titles on Steam and with the recent release on the Xbox One, the game's sales numbers are expected to skyrocket.
