PlayStation Plus April 2014: Free Games List Receives PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD Today

Beginning today PlayStation Plus is offering PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD on the Instant Game Collection in North America.

According to PSU, this title is a remake of the original version of this game, and features extra levels, features, and even a map generator.

PixelJunk is just one of the six total titles released on this month's PlayStation Plus free games list. There is one free PS4 game, two free PS3 games, and three PS Vita games, reported IGN. The games added to the queue are: Batman: Arkham City and Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse for the PS3, Mercenary Kings for the PS4, and PixelJunk Monsters Ultimate HD, Stealth Inc.: A Clone in the Dark, and Velocity Ultra for the Vita.

It was not confirmed on what days or in which order the games would launch, but usually PS Plus puts out new games each Tuesday of the month.

In Europe PS Plus subscribers received a few different games. IGN reported, Europe got Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and Sly Cooper Thieves in Time for the PS3 along with Hotline Miami and MotoGP13.

March's available games were, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite which debuted toward the end of the month. The game was available for both of Sony's handhelds, Vita and PSP. The other two games for the Instant Games Collection were Thomas Was Alone and Unit 13.

The PS4 recently hit a milestone by just surpassing 7 million units sold globally since its launch.

According to Polygon, the data for total sales is accurate as of April 6. In addition to the console sales, over 20.5 million in software sales both digitally and in retail have been sold as well.

Other numbers for the PS4 are staggering as well. Gamers have used the share feature over 135 million times, and roughly 4.9 million Ustream and Twitch broadcasts have been created.

"The PS4 journey has just begun, and although we are still facing difficulties keeping up with the strong demand worldwide, we remain steadfast in our commitment to meet the needs of our customers, and surpassing the wildest expectations of gamers by delivering new user experiences that inspire and engage," Sony CEO Andrew House said told Polygon. "We look forward to unveiling many of these experiences to our fans in the coming months."
