PlayStation VR Launching on October, Priced at $399
The release date of the long awaited PlayStation VR has finally been revealed. According to the announcement made on the PlayStation blog, Sony has revealed during the annual Game Developers conference in San Francisco that the virtual reality gaming headset will be making its way out to the public sometime in October this year. It's actually a bit later than the previously revealed timeframe but Sony is promising a reveal soon.
The suggested retail price has also been disclosed already. It will have a price tag of USD $399 or CAD $549, which is actually cheaper compared to its competitors like the Oculus Rift which has a starting price of $599 and Valve's HTC Vive which is priced at $799. But the PlayStation VR will be cheaper if the consumer already owns a PlayStation 4. As for the international prices, Polygon detailed that the PlayStation VR will cost €399 and £349 in Europe and the U.K. respectively. The device will cost 44,980 yen in Japan.
The Verge also detailed that the base level PlayStation VR will not be coming along with the company's Move controllers. Aside from that, the PlayStation Camera will not be included also. But there will be bundles for sale and it will be packed with the complete equipment.

In terms of the device specs, it has been confirmed by Andrew House, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, that the virtual reality headset will be coming with a 5.7-inch OLED screen at 1920 x 1080 resolution, which is 960 x 1080 per eye. It will support refresh rates of 120 Hz and 90 Hz and a field of view of about 100 degrees.
Sony's press release also revealed that the headset weighs approximately 610 grams and its dimensions are 7.36 inches x 7.28 inches x 10.91 inches. Meanwhile, the processing box weighs 12.875 ounces and the processor unit measures 5.63 inches x 1.42 inches x 5.63 inches. The headset also comes with nine LEDS for 360-degree head tracking.
