'Pokemon GO' News: Leaked Gameplay Footage, Game for Release After Beta Testing?

A 10-minute footage of the "Pokemon GO" game has been leaked online, showing how players can set up their character as well as a peek into the gameplay. Avatar-setting gives players many options to customize, including the choice of clothing, facial features, and clothing. This is great news for those mobile game fans who have been waiting for this free game to come out. "Pokemon GO" is reported for release later in the year, predictably after the beta testing concludes. The beta version debuted in Japan and followed in New Zealand and Australia. Testing will arrive next in the United States and Europe.

The game allows players to walk around the real world looking for Pokemon in unique spots in their locality. "Pokemon GO" is a take on the gaming platform first introduced in Niantic's hybrid game, Ingress, in which the game is played by searching real-world locations. Pokemon can be found in the wild or in eggs and can be raised to do later battles as well as be traded. They can be captured with the use of a Pokeball.

To battle Pokemon, they have to be trained first by entering a gym and joining a Red, Blue, or Yellow team. Training a Pokemon helps it level-up, but the battles in this upcoming game are different from the other Pokemon versions.

Once launched, the game can be downloaded for free from the App store on iOS and on Google Play for Android devices. Players can also use the Pokemon GO Plus, a separate bracelet-like Bluetooth device which can alert players to game events, including the presence of Pokemon in the area, by means of flashes and vibrations. Pressing a button lets players catch them.

"Pokemon Go" is one of those microtransactions-supported, new types of location-based, reality games which encourage players to go exploring the outdoors. For players who make it their ambitious goal to catch everything, there is a Pokedex that needs to be completed.

A definite date for release has not been announced by Nintendo, but to set minds at ease, it will be within the year.
