'Pretty Little Liars' Season 6B News: Executive Producer Teases New Big Bad, Season Finale

The long wait for the return of ABC Family's hit teen drama TV series "Pretty Little Liars" for the second half of its sixth season will soon be over.

Although it would still be a month's worth of anticipation, at least series creator I. Marlene King never fails to provide fans with some behind-the-scenes updates which helps keep the wait bearable.

In this week's sneak peek, King posted what appears to be a scene from the actual season finale. In her Instagram account, the showrunner captioned the photo with the following statement:

"Watching @lucyhale on the big screen for the #PrettyLittleLiars finale playback," she went on to give more hints about the scene by putting the hashtags that read "twisted," "epic," and "mindblowingending."

Hale, who played as Aria in the series, can be seen in the picture looking intently at someone. Is the character in confrontation with someone? If so, who could this person be?

Earlier this week, the executive producer also teased about the new villain who is about to be unmasked when the show makes a comeback to the small screens. Aside from the fact that this perpetrator will once again make the lives of the Rosewood girls a living hell, there is a more surprising detail about the foe.

In her recent interview with TVGuide.com, King revealed that the new troublemaker will be related to one of the favorite characters in some capacity.

"By the end of [Season] 6B, you will pretty much know who or who's related to this big bad," she teased.

And this new enemy won't be playing games at all. Hale, in her conversation with MTV, said outright that this will be an enemy to be reckoned with.

"It's definitely life or death, and it's smarter and edgier and deadlier," the actress said. "The stakes are definitely a lot higher. It's not 'I'm going to expose your secrets.' It's 'I'm going to kill you if you don't give me what I want.'"

The rest of the Liars, Hanna (Ashley Benson), Emily (Shay Mitchell), Alison (Sasha Pieterse), and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) are slated to return on Jan. 12 with the episode titled "Of Late I Think of Rosewood."
