'Prison Break' Season 5 Spoilers: Conflict in Schedules Delaying Series Revival?

Fans who have been waiting for years to see "Prison Break" return to the small screen may have to wait a little longer.

According to reports from TVLine and Digital Spy, the filming schedules of the revival series' main cast members for their current TV shows are causing a scheduling nightmare for the forthcoming revival event.

When TVLine talked to Wentworth Miller, who played the role of Michael Scofield in "Prison Break" and is currently starring in "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" as fictional supervillain Leonard Snart/Captain Cold, the actor confirmed that scheduling the shoot for the Fox revival is a little tricky.

"There are a lot of moving parts to that conversation, but we are hopeful that we'll be able to shoot something this spring," the actor said. "'Prison Break' is taking its cue from 'Legends,' which is the priority. So we're aiming for spring."

Another "Prison Break" star, Sarah Wayne Callies, the "The Walking Dead" alum who currently stars in the dystopian drama series "Colony," echoed Miller's statement. At the Television Critics Association's winter press tour last month, the actress told Digital Spy, "They're trying to make it work, I'm trying to make it work — it's a bit of Tetris with everyone's schedules because we all have other jobs."

The forthcoming revival will reportedly bring back Miller and Callies, as well as Dominic Purcell, who played the role of Lincoln Burrows in the Fox serial drama and is currently co-starring with Miller in "Legends."

"I would describe it as a bit of a sequel," Fox CEO Dana Walden said about the planned "Prison Break" revival last year. "It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show."

The Fox boss also revealed that several iconic characters from the series will be brought back for the 10-episode revival event and that it will answer the questions that were set up at the end of the show's season 4 finale.

No official announcement has been made regarding the release date for the "Prison Break" revival series.
