'Prometheus 2' news: Ridley Scott hints at more than one movie sequel
The upcoming film "Prometheus 2" will be released to provide answers to cliff-hangers in the first "Prometheus" movie, but fans might be in for more surprises from the makers of the sci-fi franchise.
In an interview with German website FilmFutter, Ridley Scot confirmed that Prometheus 2 is a follow-up to "The Martian." The shooting will commence in January 2016, but Scott has already hinted that there might be more than one sequel to cover all the unanswered mysteries from the first Prometheus film, according to Screen Crush.
In Prometheus 2, Michael Fassbender will still play the role of the android David. Noomi Rapace will also reprise her role as Elizabeth Shaw, Movie Web reports.

Meanwhile, Jack Paglen from "Transcendence" and Michael Green from "Untitled Blade Runner Project" are working on the script for Prometheus 2. Another new revelation from Scott is about a new alien coming out in the next sequel.
The film will be connected to the "Alien" franchise, most probably as a prequel. The movie will aim to explain how and why aliens came to be, the report adds.
"The whole point is to explain the Alien franchise and how and why the creation of the aliens. I always saw the Alien as a type of biological warfare," Screen Crush quotes Scott's statement to FilmFutter. "For me, the original spaceship that I call the croissant, a warship that contains these biomechanoids creatures, which is all about destruction."
Because of Scott's desire to use Prometheus 2 as a buildup to Alien, he reportedly pushed back Neill Blomkamp's own Alien sequel until his second Prometheus film is done. For now, everything is kept under tight control so there is not much to know about the movie except that it will be released in 2016.
