'Reign' Season 3 Spoilers: The Queen Of Scots Makes Her Move To Defend Her Own

The CW's hit historical fantasy drama TV series "Reign" Season 3 returns this week with a brand new episode that expects to see Mary, the Queen of Scots, making a move to save her kingdom as threats from both inside and outside continues to arise.

Spoiler alert for those who missed the previous episode, it has finally been revealed the plot of the Vatican to assassinate both Queen Elizabeth and Mary and have them replaced with their puppet monarch, Joseph Tudor. It was all thanks to Gideon who was able to get hold of this crucial information. Despite their differences, Mary was quick to send word to her cousin about the assassination plot and the latter was able to take up arms to protect herself. The situation, however, wasn't all too pleasant for Mary as Gideon's latest expose forced him to ditch the queen's side and hurry back to England in fear of Vatican's vengeance.

All these events lead Mary to finally hitch the wagon and return to Scotland. According to the synopsis from The Futon Critic, the upcoming episode titled "To The Death," the current situation will prompt Mary, and with the help of Bash, to raise her own army to save her throne. It remains to be seen how the plan will take into action given the unrest that the Vatican's plot has caused.

In another development, the TFC summary said that Elizabeth will look into Lola for some help in getting some information about her mother. However, things will quickly go down south for the English queen when the person she enlists got caught.

A promo video for Episode 12 offers glimpse on the events coming up. It opens up with Mary showing to Catherine her dress and asking her opinion. The Queen Mother commented that she looks like a "Queen men would die for." This means that she is now working to win the hearts of her subjects to protect her kingdom and it will start with how she appears to the public.

Find out how these events unfold when "Reign" Season 3 airs this Monday, May 16 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
