Dota 2 Rick and Morty Announcement Pack Release Date: Now Available (VIDEO)
Popular Adult Swim TV animation series "Rick and Morty" is now available as a "Dota 2" announcement pack.
Interdimensional time traveling grandfather-and-grandson duo, Rick and Morty, from the critically acclaimed animated Adult Swim show of the same name, are now in a "Rick and Morty"-themed "Dota 2" pack from Valve.
Bringing a new gameplay flavor to the hit multiplayer PC game, the online battle arena title with Rick and Morty's voices is currently available on Steam for $7.99.
The light DLC pack will feature a crossover into the world of eccentric alcoholic scientist Rick and his cowardly and frequently distressed 14-year-old grandson, Morty, whose voices will both be replacing the game's Default and Mega-Kills announcer while players employ real-time strategy through the game's fantasy lore.
Adult Swim executive producer and "Rick and Morty" creator Justin Rolland will be voicing both Rick and Morty as he does in the show.
While Rick's comedic burps appear to be absent in "Dota 2," Morty stays true to character by arguing with his grandfather and announcing finishing moves in a mortified voice, with Rick attempting to calm him down afterwards.
With the popular series now on its second season, and having been recently green-lighted for a third, the release of the announcer pack is a timely promotion for both the show, which has gained a large following, and the multi-awarded sci-fi battle game.
This isn't the first time Valve has added new announcers to "Dota 2." Players are familiar with the announcer packs that take up an entire section of the game's cash shop with guest announcers like the "Bastion" narrator, and the narrator from "The Stanley Parable."
Valve has recently been overhauling the MOBA game, optimizing the title for both low-end and high-end computers, improving the game's physics and visuals, and refitting it for the Source 2 engine. It has also recently re-launched a revamped version of the Source Filmmaker.
